Recently, Sai treated me to a trip to Slug & Lettuce to celebrate my birthday with a late lunch. This was my first visit to a Slug & Lettuce and I had high expectations thanks to the various instagram pictures I had seen – and I’m happy to say I wasn’t disappointed. A wash of pinks, greens and Monstera leaves paves way to trendy table and feature walls that are begging to be photographed.
We chose food from the daytime menu (served until 4PM). There’s plenty of choice on the menu ranging from burgers and steaks to wraps and curries. I loved the fact that it wasn’t restricted and a few of the meat dishes could be swapped out for veggie options if requested.
Not so long ago I paid a trip to Wagamama in Cardiff. Well, I’ve been a little naughty and took a trip into Cardiff with Ryan to celebrate his birthday. We primarily took the trip to unleash our inner children at Techniquest but after a long morning we decided to stop for lunch. After a lot of indecision we settled on Côte Brasserie – a lush French Brasserie with an appealing menu.
It was a pretty miserable day but considering there was a food festival going on in the Bay we were glad to see it wasn’t too busy and so we were seated quickly. The restaurant has a very relaxed feel about. We were given the choice of where to sit and chose a quiet corner where the table for two was accompanied by the usual chair but also a sofa. The place gave off a very comfort filled vibe and after a long morning I really appreciated that.
The menu had been the thing that drew us to the place. It isn’t extensive but offers a range of light bites as well as heavier meals. As well as the standard à la carte menu we were also given the July specials menu – much smaller and containing things not found on the main menu.
After attending a meeting with my company I decided to meet my sister in Cardiff for a spot of lunch. We opted for Wagamama as we both fancied light and flavourful. It was a stunning day and teamed with an ongoing graduation we weren’t sure if we would find a table. Luckily we didn’t have to wait long and decided to sit outside and soak up the sun whilst we could.
The service we received was quick and I cannot fault it. We were sat and allowed to peruse the menu and a leisurely pace. Eventually we settled on a main course and side order each. If you’ve never visited a Wagamama before then they aren’t a traditional restaurant that brings out food all together. Instead, they bring out the food as soon as the dish has been prepared. Personally, I find this is great when you are in a larger group but when it’s just two of us I prefer to wait. Even though there was some delay between all of the dishes it wasn’t long before out entire order was on the table and everything was still piping hot.
